Pros:
- Very fast (since its an ac1900, of course it gives your device a very fast network) it’s almost like an ethernet. When I speedtest my ethernet (cat6) it gives me 150mbps download with 10mbps upload, but this adapter gives me 170mbps download and 11mbps upload. That is really a big difference especially there’s three gaming pc connected in my wifi.
- easy to set up (the extender really helps)
- not too expensive (I bought it for $49 and comparing to other ac1900 adapters, this is way cheaper!)

Cons:
- To connect to an internet, you need to push the WPS button every single time you open your device (very annoying) and it takes time to connect to an internet (like 2-3minutes)
- needs an updated driver, the latest one is 2018 for windows (there’s a 2019 but its for macOS)
- bulky (if you wants to put your desktop tower next to a wall, you have to leave a couple of inches from the wall to allow the adapter to be plugged in) although it’s not a problem for me, it might be a problem for other users

Miałem trudny orzech do zgryzienia - router dostawca internetu zamontował mi w salonie (bo tam było gniazdko), natomiast komputer stacjonarny mam w innym pokoju i do salonu stacjonarki z oczywistych powodów przenosić nie będę... Przewiercać się przez ściany? Puszczać kabel przez kuchnię? Tylko kuchnia jest już zabudowana meblami, więc będzie trochę problematyczne, choć z pewnością się da. Jeden mocny gryz i rozgryzłem ten orzech! Przecież nie muszę puszczać kabla, żeby mieć duży transfer, wystarczy bardzo dobra karta bezprzewodowa! Tylko dotychczas myślałem, że takie karty kosztują majątek... a tymczasem... 219 zł za transfer o prędkości 1300Mb/s w paśmie 5GHz lub 600Mb/s w paśmie 2,4GHz to jest po prostu szok! I to nie jest byle jaka firma, bo TP Link we własnej osobie, czyli ekspert od sieciowych rozwiązań. Przekalkulujmy na szybko: odpada mi koszt kabla, ponad 30 metrów, czyli jakieś 120 zł, do tego moja robocizna, przewiercanie się przez ścianę (koszt uszkodzenia ściany i utratę właściwości dźwiękowych/wilgociowych - w końcu to kuchnia)... no kurde, koszt praktycznie ten sam, nie majtają się nigdzie żadne kable, mniej roboty... wystarczy tylko włożyć kartę do portu USB i można śmigać! A powiem wam tyle, że śmiga jak szalone. O tak, prędkość jest aż za dobra, bo aż takiej nie potrzebuję. No ale chyba nie będę narzekał, że taka jest? Świetna karta, w świetnej cenie. Polecam!

TL;DR: For Linux, driver aircrack-ng/rtl8812au on github works.

Compatible soit, mais quelle galère pour le faire marcher... La page de pilotes du fabricant propose un guide d'installation sous linux pour compiler soi même les sources du pilote. Rien de choquant jusque là.
Premier problème: les sources ne sont visiblement pas disponibles sur la version Suisse du site, je les ai finalement trouvées sur la version française et anglaise.
Deuxième problème: les deux version des sources disponibles ne compilent pas (testé sous ArchLinux, mais visiblement d'autres utilisateurs sous Ubuntu/Mint ont partagé mon expérience).
Après quelques heures de recherche j'ai trouvé un driver fonctionnel (aircrack-ng/rtl8812au sur github).
Pour info, le chipset de la carte Wi-Fi est Realtek RTL8814AU.
J'ai été particulièrement déçu du fabricant qui affichait pourtant en gros une compatibilité avec Linux. Je comprends qu'il n'est pas possible de garantir le fonctionnement pour toutes les configurations mais j'aurai apprécié une meilleure transparence d'entrée de jeu.

Une fois installé l'appareil fonctionne comme attendu, excellent débit et portée. J'attends de l'utiliser plus longuement pour juger de la fiabilité.

Päivitin viimein Saksassa tuunatun v. 2010 Mac Pro:ni Mac Os 10.12 (Sierra) käyttikseen minkä seurauksena sen oma Wifi-kortti lakkasi toimimasta (yleinen ongelma). Tämä TP-LINKin tuote tuli valituksi, koska tukee AC-moodia ja oli kolmesta Verkkokaupan tarjoamasta vaihtoehdosta edullisin ja speksien mukaan sopivin. Ulkonäkökin miellytti. Asennuksessa oli kuitenkin pientä säätämistä:

- Driver download -sivuilta selvisi, että versio1 tukee Mac OS X järjestelmiä ainoastaan välillä 10.8 - 10.12, joten Verkkokaupan tuotetiedoissa oleva "Mac OS X 10.7 tai uudempi" ei siis pidä paikkaansa. (Versio 2:een olisi kyllä ladattavissa 10.13:n beta-ajurit.)

- Ajureiden asennus ei mennyt ihan helpoimman mukaan, mutta koneen restartin ja tarkkaavaisen itseopiskelun jälkeen homma alkoi pelittämään ja pääsin tavoitenopeuksiin.
- Laite kaatuu kuitenkin n. kerran päivässä intensiivisen käytön aikana (esim. Speedtest.net testaus saattaa riittää kaataman laitteen) ja sen jälkeen tikku pitää hetkeksi irrottaa USB-väylästä ja tökätä takaisin – pieni riesa, mutta kumminkin. En sitten tiedä, liittyykö siihen, että koneessani USB 3 on jälkiasennettuna korttina.
Kaiken kaikkiaan, kokemus tästä laitteesta ei ole ajureiden/asennuksen/käyttöliittymän yms osalta kovin "mac-ystävällinen"...mutta...koska kuitenkin toimii luvatusti 99% ajasta, päätin pitää tuotteen. Driver-päivityksiä odottelen.
